Well, here’s a curiosity, Christian Bale reading Ashbery’s Breezeway for audible.com. The recording was never released, and it’s the first we know of it even being made (authors aren’t always made aware of audiobook versions of their own books). It was just posted to YouTube with the following note:
Actor Christian Bale recorded this reading of John Ashbery's 2015 book of poetry, Ashbery's second-to-last, "Breezeway," for Amazon.com's Audible audiobook platform (as part of a series of literary readings by big-name actors called "The A-List Collection"), but for reasons as yet unconfirmed but widely speculated on, Amazon did not make the recording available and as of this writing there is currently no Audible.com audiobook for Breezeway. Bale's Welsh accent and sense of actorly gravitas lend Ashbery's late poetry, at its perhaps most confrontationally surrealist, a very unique setting and mood indeed. Captain Clips intercepted this little gem on the high-definition seas and happily offers it here to the poetry lover, and/or fan of the Nolan Batman films.
